INFORMATION AND SUGGESTIONS REGARDING AN AGREEMENT FOR
INSECT COLLECTING ACTIVITIES IN TAIWAN
The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate collecting activities during your visit
in Taiwan so that you are in conformity with the regulations of the TaiwaneseGovernment. The agreement encourages interactions with local scientists and assists
Taiwan in obtaining a better long term understanding of its biota. Conditions of theagreement are consistent with the regulations of most governments worldwide. Collectors
who do not adhere to the agreed upon conditions will not be welcome to return to thecountry and will have their names published in the newsletter of the Taiwan
Entomological Society as persona non granta.Well in advance of your trip, please contact a Taiwanese institution that will serve
as a co-signer for the collecting agreement. In order for them to know your qualifications, you are encouraged to send reprints and a brief curriculum vitae. The co-signer institution
may help you apply for the necessary permit(s). If you plan to collect in National Parksor other restricted areas, additional permit(s) must be obtained. Extra time and
paperwork are needed, so plan your schedule accordingly. You are encouraged to involve local students (undergraduate or graduate) in your
project whenever possible.
